Polestar is a EV automaker whose main focus is sustainability and decreasing carbon emissions from their vehicles. They not only achieved this from the design of their EVs or their manufacturing process but also throughout the entire life cycle of each vehicle.
The Polestar 2 is the succeeding model to the debut vehicle for the Swedish automotive brand. It is also the brand’s first all-electric option. Since 2019, when they were initially introduced, the popularity of this EV has continued to thrive alongside the brand behind it. As a company continuously striving to improve, Polestar applies the same psyche to its vehicles. Polestar disclosed EU pricing for the Polestar 2 September of 2021, as well as the addition of fresh powertrain alternatives.
Polestar has confirmed upgrades to the performance of the Polestar 2 as well as the general design, from an environmental and aesthetic perspective. Polestar has announced a lot of advancements to the Polestar 2, including two new exterior colors, new wheels, and updates to its interior. By swapping out specific materials and components for those utilizing renewable energy, Polestar has been able to lessen the carbon emissions each car produces, while also making sure that they guarantee ethical mining by tracking the used minerals from their source using blockchain to the finished EV.
The latest Polestar 2 upgrades do not concentrate on the range but more on design and sustainability, although improvements in the range should be seen as well. It was discovered in December that the EPA range had leaped to 270 miles, which is 37 more miles than the 2021 model and 21 additional miles than the 2022 Dual Motor trim.
Below are some of the things to expect from the 2023 Polestar 2 ;
The automaker’s batteries have an overall new and better sustainability due to a partnership with Circulor. Circulor is a software company that uses blockchain technology to trace the acquisition process of both mica and cobalt used in production. This ensures the whole mining to manufacturing process stays ethical. Improvements to the aluminum battery tray and wheels will attract CO2e deductions to each and every Polestar 2 manufactured moving forward.
The Polestar 2 is said to have two new exterior colors: the Space (metallic black) and Jupiter (gold-grey with red flake) colors.
The Polestar 2 also has standard 19″ and alternative20 ” new wheel designs. For breezy Nappa leather upholstery, there is a Zinc grey color which comes with a new Light Ash deco trim. A removable sunshade for the panoramic glass roof sums it up.
The optimal temperature range for the mechanical heat pump has also been improved by Polestar. This spec that has increased to between 20 degrees and 77 degrees Fahrenheit is included in the Plus package. Polestar asserts that the pump, which was formerly optimized for between 40 and 60 degrees, helps increase real-world range in adverse conditions.
When it comes to improvements, the interior designs were not left out. The Polestar 2 boasts an advanced cabin filter and elevated interior particulate matter sensor with a new in-car app. The system quantifies external air quality development in the cabin.
According to the automaker, the pricing, range rating, and availability in North America for Polestar 2 with these upgrades will be disclosed in the coming weeks.
